Yeah bit of a strange comment. It might make it more difficult but doesn’t mean it’s 100% no chance.

Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
I just can’t see it happening for numerous reasons

He’s close to home in north east

Boro set up how he wants tactically, would have to start again with West Ham

Sullivan/kretinsky would have to buy out his contract which I expect will be extended straight away if they get promoted to a larger deal

Vexed 12:34 Fri Mar 24
Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
Just because he might get promoted doesn't mean we wouldn't be able to get him if we really wanted him. Which we dont.

diehardhammer 12:29 Fri Mar 24
Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
How many times is Carrick going to get mentioned before people realise it’s very likely he gets promoted with boro and stays there?

Carrick won’t be available as an option

Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
How about Carrick with Will Still as his assistant, then Still takes over when Carrick goes to manage England.

Vexed 9:43 Thu Mar 23
Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
Still has been either a manager or assistant manager for the last six years. When is he considered experienced enough for this Swindon dwelling numpty?

LJC 9:37 Thu Mar 23
Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
Swindon. Might be too late then. I reckon some are getting the hump because wait for a manager to be proven and he either goes to a better prospect than us or get a riven manager on the way down. Big argument for us having to roll the dice on who we think is the next big thing and get in there before anyone else.

Agree with that. Balogun also had an amazing opportunity to equalise in injury time but fluffed it. Had he scored the narrative would be even more positive this week

Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
I think the relevance of the West Ham link is that he would take the job, because no one else worth a rub of salt will take it, according to you.

The fact it's his dream job is a massive positive.

LJC,

It is an impressive story.

Personally I would like to see how he’s doing in 12 months time before he’s considered for us.

LJC 9:15 Thu Mar 23
Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
Thing is Swindon he has been all over the media and even had a slot on football focus and didn’t mention he was a West Ham fan. The story is pretty impressive.

Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
diehard,

Ok but after a long unbeaten run they have now lost a game so it will be interesting how he/they react to that. That’s always a big test.

As for the West Ham fan part I would say it’s relevant because I don’t think his name would be mentioned as much on here without that.

diehardhammer 8:55 Thu Mar 23
Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
Not quite true, Still lost his first game in the cup against Toulouse

The next game in the league against Toulouse battered them 3-0, appears he learnt from errors the first time. Then went 5 games unbeaten 4w 1d following the cup loss

The West Ham fan is irrelevant, just an added bonus to his coaching ability in my opinion

Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
Might it be worth just seeing how the likes of Will Still & Carrick are doing in 12-18 months time before putting them forward as our next manager?

Both have only had about 6 months of managerial experience.

There have been plenty of these kind of early “success stories” in the past that haven’t lasted.

Would Will Still even be mentioned on here if he wasn’t a West Ham fan?

As mentioned below his team isn’t exactly renowned for scoring many goals. He lost his first game last week so let’s see how he reacts to that.

Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
I’ve watched Reims a few times and they’re good to watch.

Against Marseille they pinned them back for most of the game and were on the front foot, being brave in attack.

Considering how poor the Reims are side (were expected to get relegated) I’ve been very impressed with Still’s no fear approach to attacking bigger sides - opposite to Moyes’ fearful approach

Only lost to 2 world class goals from Alexis sanchez really

Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
Agree about our current squad, but I'm thinking long term, and an attack minded manager would be preferable, and hopefully he'd buy some pacy players in the summer.

That said, I'm only going by the results Still and Carrick have had and that probably doesn't tell the whole story. I've never seen Reims play. Maybe they are better to watch than their lack of goals suggests.

Vexed 7:47 Thu Mar 23
Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
Nagel 7:40 Thu Mar 23

I think you'd be hard pressed to play good attacking football with the lack of pace in our squad. Also Carrick has picked up a job at one of the better funded clubs in the championship as his first management job after coaching for a few years. Still has picked up several jobs as a manager and do e very well on a close to fuck all budget. I'm not saying that Carrick wouldn't be a vast improvement on Moyes, he undoubtedly would be but I dont reckon the comparison you made was completely fair. I'd take either but Still would be the most exciting in a season devoid of excitement.

Nagel 7:40 Thu Mar 23
Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
On the face of it Still's and Carrick's achievements look quite similar, given how they both took over in October and changed their club's fortunes around.

Will Still seems to be mainly about making his team hard to beat. They've had 10 clean sheets in his 18 games in charge, but they've only scored more than one goal 5 times.

Carrick's team on the other hand scored more than one goal in 15 matches out of 22, totalling 50 goals in that period. They're currently 2nd top scorers in the division and will probably end up 1st.

Given what we've had to suffer this season I'd much rather have a manager who's willing to go for it and try to win rather than settle for a draw.

While I agree that any of them would be better than Moyes, the two you ha e chosen to mention are Carrick who is less experienced than Still who you have dismissed and Arguably is managing at a lower level than Still. The other is Rodgers who is one of the few managers that has been regularly out thought by the idiot Moyes when we've played Leicester, frightening. He wouldn't take the job anyway because he only takes tap-ins - he is the master of picking up jobs at the right time that makes him look way better than the reality.

It's all opinions though. Depressed.

Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
Ruben Amorim is the man who should be tasked with the West Ham United rebuild, when David Moyes is sacked.

The 59-year-old West Ham boss is walking on very thin ice at the London Stadium at the moment, after a shocking Premier League campaign so far for the Hammers.

And in my option, whenever Moyes is eventually moved on, Amorim is the ideal replacement for him.

The Scot’s approach to the game has become stale and it’s clear to see that he has been found out this season.

West Ham need a modern, young and dynamic manager to lead us towards a bright new horizon, whenever Moyes is eventually moved on.

When David Moyes is sacked, Ruben Amorim is the man for the rebuild

Portuguese football website PortuGOAL describe Amorim as a ‘spectacular’ manager.

He deploys a 3-4-3 system that switches into a 5-2-3 when defending. His likes his team to play a really aggressive high press, and in order to get this to work, his players have to be highly energetic and physically robust.

You only needed to watch Sporting’s clashes with Premier League leaders Arsenal in the Europa League to see what incredible football the Portuguese coach has his side playing.

Amorim has only been managing for five years and has been in charge of Sporting since 2020.

Since then, he has transformed the Portuguese giants into one of the most enthralling teams to watch on the planet.

The 38-year-old guided Sporting to the league title in the 2020/21 season and the league cup in the same campaign. He also won the same cup competition a year later – a trophy that he guided Braga to in the 2019/20 season.

The West Ham fans deserve to see some exciting football with a young, progressive manager.

We have a great group of players at the London Stadium, and Moyes just isn’t getting the best out of them. It’s time for a change, and whilst that might not be now, the summer will be the ideal time for David Moyes to be sacked.

When that happens, Ruben Amorim should be brought in and tasked with bringing the glory days back to East London.
